Design & Manufacture
From your original artwork to a real manufactured garment.
Begin the KOS learning path with the virtual factory class created by Chuck and Vilma Coleman. Learn how to design on a garment pattern, follow your design through dye-sublimation production and understand how the finished clothing is cut, sewn and delivered.
What you will learn
- Design on a pattern. Position artwork across fixed garment panels and account for seams, fit and the finished piece.
- Take a virtual factory tour. See the stages between an approved design and a manufactured garment.
- Understand inks and materials. Learn about ink sourcing, why sublimation inks are selected and how compatible fabrics affect the result.
- Follow printing and heat transfer. Explore transfer-paper printing, heat application and how dye enters polyester fibers.
- Understand lasting quality. Examine color durability, production quality and care, alongside the manufacturer’s material and process specifications.
- Follow cutting, sewing and delivery. See panel assembly, finishing, quality checks, packing and fulfillment.
Your Level 1 outcome
An approved garment design prepared for actual manufacturing, with a defined route from production to delivery. The manufactured-garment course package includes a finished garment when the participant completes the agreed design and approval steps. Garment type, included production costs, shipping, delivery window and replacement terms are confirmed in the enrollment agreement before payment.
How the course is delivered
The institutional model combines KOS course materials and factory demonstrations with a partner instructor prepared and assessed by KOS. The partner leads regular classes; Chuck and Vilma contribute scheduled guest appearances. Program scope and enrollment are arranged with the participating organization.
Next: Level 2
After learning how the garment is made, explore how to present it. Level 2: The Walking Billboard examines human attention, public visibility, trade-show communication and QR-connected campaigns.
